BRIAN GARAY
Oils

Somewhere between reality and fiction is how I would describe my work. I'm a long-time admirer and close observer of Baroque and nineteenth century European and American artists. Their use of color, strong composition and confident brushwork inspires my own use of traditional techniques. I've taken great advantage of the great art collections Chicago has to offer, and continue to absorb the vast amounts of information we've inherited from painters of the past.

ALEX LISTELLO
Encaustic

Born in the late 1970's I became part of the "Nintendo" generation. In no time at all I was spring loaded into a rapidly technologically changing world. Technology has changed so fast in such a small amount of time if sometimes feels like time itself should be in a straight jacket.  The date is 2016.

I was born a photographer, and blessed to live in a city that provides endless subject matter, and backdrops that are both ever-changing and timeless. My work is about growing up in urban neighborhoods. I reflect on how public art and nature enhanced my childhood experiences unexpectedly. My goal is to bring awareness about the extraordinary hidden in plain sight. GUEST ARTIST SEPT & OCT 2018

BEATRIZ LEDESMA
Oil

I am a Latin-American immigrant from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am a painter who work primarily with oils on canvas.  I used strong, bold, vibrant colors as expression of my Latin American roots and to denote emotions.

My imagery is realistic and they are placed in a dreamlike composition
so to indicate my internal world which is in constant response to my personal history and the world surrounding me.  It is my hope that the viewer will be transported into an internal space of self reflection and insight about memorable and incongruous aspects of life.

GUEST ARTIST SEPT - NOV 2018

JOLA SOARES
Mixed Media

My paintings are intuitive. Every so often I start my paintings without any plan or structure.  I put down several layers of paint while experimenting with colors, textures, and markings while using different tools such as brooms, whisks, skewers, pencils etc. The process of adding and subtracting paint is an essential part of the process. By revealing older layers and building up new ones, different feelings and memories are awakened and they eventually lead to the finished pieces that speak to me.
