EDUCATION

The Drawing Workshop – Chicago, Illinois. George Sotos, Founder and Instructor. Studied Drawing through both the three dimensional building of human skeletons articulated an unarticulated in clay, through life drawing and through charcoal drawings of plaster casts. 1994-2000

The Palette & Chisel – Chicago, Illinois. Ingrid Albrecht, Instructor. Studied traditional Water Color Painting and Monotype Prints using water color, liquid acrylics and Sumi ink. 2001- 2007.

Susan Clinard Studios – Susan Clinard – Founder and Instructor. Studied representational sculpture of the human figure using water based clay and oil based clay. Studied armature construction. Worked from models, from life drawings and photographs. 2003-2006.

ARTIST BIO STATEMENT

In my childhood art education was something done for 15 minutes on a Friday afternoon, and then it disappeared completely until my left brain overloaded and I wandered into an art class at The Drawing Workshop taught by George Sotos. I knew whatever happened in those three hours of class was more important than anything happening anywhere. It was process not product that mattered, and my life was transformed. My good luck continued when I found Ingrid Albrecht, painter, and Susan Clinard, sculptor to study with. All of their work continues to inspire me. So now I paint; and I sculpt.. My love affair with color and the immediacy of expression sometimes drives me to create abstract paintings that are fluid and move. Other times I create representational sculpture loving the physical part of it and the challenge of the discipline. Whether sculpting or painting I feel connected and grateful to all those who have gone before me.
